I paid for my rental through American Airlines, but the agent at the airport in Omaha, Nebraska, charged me additional fees and taxes. I told her I had paid through the airline. She asked for the receipt, and I gave it to her, but she insisted that I have to pay for the airport fees and taxes. Instead of upgrading my reservation, she made me book a new one and refused to upgrade the current one. On the 17th of September, I was in Cincinnati and rented a car from Hertz through Expedia. I pay $25/day to upgrade for three days. I returned the car early, and they charged me only for the upgrade, $75.00. This is the first time I have experienced anything like this. I don't think I will ever rent a car from this company again. I rather stay with Hertz, I know, than spend unnecessary money at Avis company. The car she gave me was super dirty. Thanks, AK Derricks

If I could give zero stars I would. My vehicle had a weird odor, that became obvious that was due to prior cigarette smoking when I turned the heat on. Then, I sustained a flat tire, but when I contacted their roadside service, they gave me a ticket number and said I would receive a text message with an estimated time of arrival. I NEVER RECEIVED THAT TEXT! I literally had to use a 3rd party service to change the flat tire. Then, the person who changed the tire immediately commented on how bald the tire were-that they should have been changed prior to letting anyone drive the vehicle. Poor product, poor service!!!

I was improperly billed additional fees upon my rental’s return even though the gas tank was completely filled. This error was identified immediately by the receiving agent but was not corrected, nor have further attempts to reach Avis’s customer service line been successful as the system automatically disconnects. Do better, Avis.

This was my first time renting from AVIS during my visit to Omaha and will be my last. I had a death in my immediate family and had to return my rental car sooner than expected, 2 days to be exact, to fly back home from Omaha for the funeral services. On my way to return the car on 1/2/2023 at the OMA airport I spoke with 4 different AVIS representatives. The first rep, Angela, said AVIS could not provide a refund. When I asked if she could transfer me to customer service, she replied no and that she was unable to do that. Angela gave me a number to call for customer service (same number I originally called). I called again and although this person was not in customer service, she offered to transfer me to customer service. Angela lied to me. I then spoke with a Miguel and the first question I asked was if he was in customer service, he said yes. After explaining my situation and asked if there was a possibility to receive a refund, he proceeded to tell me he wasn’t in customer service and will transfer me. Before I could ask why he lied to me, he transferred me. The last person I spoke with was Gabriel. I explained my situation and asked if it was possible to be refunded for the 2 days I am not using the rental car. He said due to prepaying at the time of reservation, AVIS’ policy is to not refund. I asked if there were any exceptions given my situation, he said no. After asking a third time to see if he could do anything at all, he said there was nothing he or AVIS could do. At this point I was very frustrated. I lost an immediate family member and AVIS refused to refund 2 days of rental (~$150 in value). Not only did the four representatives provide no help, they passed me around from rep to rep showing no kindness or sympathy. I explained to Gabriel how disappointed I was in AVIS and the complete lack of empathy he and AVIS has for their customers. It was only after sharing my opinions that Gabriel suggested he could provide me a coupon equal to the amount of 2 days for my next rental with AVIS. My immediate question was “why was this not the first option provided to me when we first spoke on the phone?”, he had no answer. I politely declined the coupon offer as I do not want to experience this treatment again in the future. Even though I had a positive rental pickup experience, the way I was treated as a customer when returning my rental and asking for help was extremely disappointing. I urge any future customers to seek other car rental companies before AVIS.

The staff and cars available at the Omaha airport are always great. Staff is extremely friendly and the car selection is always good. I’ve never had a bad experience traveling to Nebraska to visit my daughter in college and have logged more than 15 trips. Big kudos to the Avis staff at OMA.

Avis made it real easy to pick up and return the vehicle. I got the car I requested and it was in great shape. I had no troubles with staff or the vehicle and it was at a fair price.

The staff was competent and polite, very efficient. Car was in excellent shape and clean. We had quick, easy check-in and check-out, with no pressure to upgrade or buy extra insurance or invest in complicated refueling plans.

Where do I start? The pickup (11:00 pm on a Wednesday) was a great experience but after that point it went downhill. The car I received was not cleaned and my key fob was broken. This meant the only way to open the car was via the door handles on the car itself. Yes, this is a little inconvenience but if I’m paying $500+ for a car, it should be in good condition. I also expect a clean vehicle when traveling for a variety of (health) reasons. The BIGGEST problems started at drop off. Now, I returned my car early (4:00 am on a Saturday) but was told in advance to simply use their drop box. Great! However, when I got to the lot for return, the steel gate was closed and there were no attendants available. So, I called Avis and was instructed to drop off in the Budget lot, since it was open and they are a “sister” company. I then went into my app to complete my rental but kept getting issues where the app wasn't recognizing my location. Once again, I called Avis and was told it was “my fault” for parking it in the Budget lot. Wait? They TOLD me to do this! They then told me to get ahold of the local Avis to inform them of where I parked the car so my rental could be completed. I have called every day for now three days with no one answering. Instead I get forwarded to a call center, with people whom keep telling me to contact the local desk! Now, three days later they have charged my credit card for over $3,700!!!!!!!!! Yet, I can’t get ahold of anyone! Even when I call the 800-number, I get zero help! I would not recommend Avis to anyone who has a schedule or requires any help from customer service.

Our rental car experience at the Omaha airport was outstanding. The staff was helpful and friendly, and we got into our car quickly and on our way. At drop off, someone was there waiting to take the keys and we were on our way again. Very positive experience. The price was very fair as well.

Car was pretty dirty. Ran well, no issues. Before returning it I was looking for a place to refuel and didn't see one close from where I was coming. Turns out they charge 10 effing bucks per gallon! That's just outrageous!
