Avis Car Rental

Reserved a 4-door Toyota Camry or similar for one-way. When we showed up we were told that only certain cars are allowed to be rented one-way. So we had to take a horrible Dodge Challenger that in no way met our needs: 2-door, 22 MPG on the highway, no interior room and limited trunk, extremely loud and uncomfortable, headlights completely out of alignment (to the point of being dangerous). If "Toyota Camry or similar" is not allowed for one-way rentals, then it should not have allowed me to reserve it. Of course when we learned about this it was too late to get a one-way from another company.

The Avis employees at pick up and drop off were pleasant, though somehow the credit card I used was charged, as well as a credit card that I did not even have in my wallet, for an identical amount, requiring a call to the credit company's custom service. Additionally, I was pulled over by Omaha PD driving the car back to the airport, as the plates were expired.

There is always a line with problem customers whenever I use AVIS, day or night. Long lines with one person working means longer waiting to get my reserved, prepaid vehicle. While I passed almost 100 cars in the garage, mine was the second from the last. Could there not have been one premium car closer? I guess premium does not apply to access. I use AVIS because of my AARP affiliation but it really is not worth the minimal discount. Looking elsewhere in Omaha next time.

recently had to fly to Nebraska to take care of my elderly mother. I used Priceline to rent a car from the Omaha airport. Because it was just myself, one suitcase, and sometimes my mom in the car, I chose the smallest, cheapest vehicle to rent. When I was picking up my vehicle from Avis, the Avis Rental Car rep asked if I wanted to upgrade to a bigger vehicle. I basically said, "No. This isn't a pleasure trip, and I don't need the extra room." They gave me a Toyota Camry, and I was on my way. 3 weeks later, I got my bill. I was charged by Priceline (normal. That is fine). BUT I WAS CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL $440 FOR AN UPGRADE. I immediately called Avis, waited on hold for an hour, and was told to email them. After emailing them, 3 times, saying I did not agree to this, they basically said, "sorry, you signed for an upgrade and you are paying this." Avis is despicable and I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN. My question to them is ON WHAT PLANET IS A CAMRY AN UPGRADE? DID THE RENTAL REP GET A KICKBACK FOR AN UPGRADE? I am a regular car renter (Enterprise and Hertz) and they have never done this to me. I actually rent cars 5-6 times a year. AVIS HAS LOST A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE. What a sneaky way to get more money.

So I rented an HRV from them yesterday afternoon at AVIS airport. The vehicle has what is called the death wobble. This at certain speeds is exactly what it implies, uncontrollable shaking. Today I called them up to get a replacement vehicle. They want me to bring it in. I just spent a complete day yesterday traveling and they want me to waste another 4 hours because they rented me a POS. I told them no and I also told them they were being recorded. Ok we will bring you an exchange vehicle and take the messed up one back, but however there may be a charge of 500/1000 dollars. I said hell no and hung up. I will more likely call my lawyer. Poor service and poor everything. I told them if I wreck I will sue the hell out of them. Disgusting group, airport Avis Omaha NE. My wife and I were in Omaha last weekend and rented a car thru Avis. Very happy with excellent customer service during checkout in , picking up and dropping off car. Enjoyed the Toyota very much! Dave. Gaithersburg, MD

I originally rented from Hertz at the Omaha Airport. Due to the extreme weather situation I needed to make changes to my rental agreement. Hertz refused to assist and threatened to charge a $1500 penalty. Avis stepped in, met my needs and did it quickly and efficiently. If you are renting from Omaha, never go to Hertz! Always rent from Avis.

Avis processed an unauthorized transaction on my credit card. I will never rent a cat with Avis again. Not recommended for underage drivers. Too costly. A flat rate would be much more suitable than an overall $81 dollars in underage fees. Pricing was discriminatory and unsatisfactory and charges were NOT authorized.

Avoid Avis. The bottomline is that I've been an Avis customer for years and when I rented a vehicle that, while enroute on a one-way rental had some issues, I requested to drop off the car at a different location and fly the rest of the way. They said I could drop the vehicle off at another location but would charge me $500, plus more taxes and fees based on the increased cost of the rental with the fee. I would have been dropping the car off well short of the original destination putting less wear and tear on the car while still paying the full, original agreed upon rate, and the drop-off would have been at a major, metropolitan destination instead of another major metropolitan destination so there would be zero impact to their operations. Yes, they have a policy that requires them to charge the fee, and yes, they could have waived the fee and kept a customer. I had been an Avis customer for a long time but not anymore - there are plenty of other options. To be clear, this review is not about the Omaha location in particular. When I arrived into Omaha they couldn't have been more helpful. This review. has more to do with the backend support that you can expect to receive from Avis.

I was pleasantly surprised how great and how smoothly everything went at the Omaha airport. Nice car and surprised at the counter women....how nice she was. The car was nice, new and to return the car at that crazy airport was easy. I will rent again! Jann Meyers
