VCA 80 Dodge Animal Hospital

We've been going to VCA 80 Dodge vet for years. Always great staff. Dr. Lynn Batenhorst is amazing. Currently Covid-19 safety is their priority. You call when you arrive and staff will come out to your car to get your pet. While you wait in your car, the Dr. will call you with updates. Hopefully they can return to normal service soon, but for now, it's great 👍.

I called VCA when my dog took a turn for the worst; although it was close to closing time, they fit us in took their time giving us all the options. We were very impressed with the dignity and patience they showed all of us. Thank you for taking our concerns seriously and we will forever be thankful.

We took our dog in on a Saturday for vomiting. He wound up having to have surgery, and Dr. Batenhorst set it up the next morning. The staff were very friendly and personable. The cost was much lower there than somewhere else would have been. They sent us home after surgery with everything we needed including medication and instructions. They even called the next day to check on him. We felt very well cared for!

Great hours and some of the kindest, best vets in Omaha. Was able to get nails trimmed (or were they talons?) on my new foster dog. The vets especially Batenhorst and Cade are thorough, knowledgeable and kind.

They love my furbaby almost as much as I do. They take wonderful care of my schnauzer Smokey. I have boarded him there for vacation. He was a happy baby when I got him. He wasn't ready to go. I am disappointed that the groomer is retiring and they won't have one after that.

I take my two cats, Zena and Jasper to VCA and we always receive outstanding service from the front desk staff and the veterinarians. I would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Jill Simoens for taking care of my diabetic cat, Zena. We appreciate you soooo much!!! Also, Jaggert at the front desk. He always goes above and beyond the call of duty. All of the vet techs and assistants that have helped us, too. Rachel, Carly, Megs, Kyle, and Erika. Also, Rachel, who is in charge of the front desk staff. VCA is a great place and they truly care about your pets health and wellness. Thank you all again, and have a Happy New Year!!!

The best thing about this location is the communication. They always reached out right away with results and quickly respond via txt. This location is very professional and they let me know the cost upfront before we proceeded, with other vets they just did what they wanted to do and I had no idea what to expect financially so I'm extremely grateful that they were so honest. My dog Dug needed neutered and they gave me an estimate for when that day came (it was a range) ahead of time when we went in for bloodwork/exam and the final cost was what they'd said it would be and I appreciate that. When I went to pick him up they didn't just rush us out, they went over medications, what to expect and it made me feel like they really cared. Overall it was a great experience and they'll be my official vet for the rest of my dogs life.

We discovered the VCA family through and unfortunate situation, but I can say it was one of the best things for our family! Dr. Simones is the primary vet we have begun to see. She is honest and makes sure we set realistic goals for our dog. All of the members of the facility have been wonderful to work with & our pup never complains about going to visit! With so many options for veterinary care in the Omaha area, I feel that the VCA is fairly priced & they are willing to work with you and your budget. The doctors at this clinic know when there is a problem outside of their expertise and they are honest and willing to refer you on to someone more specialized if needed. For routine care or specialized visits, I know our pup is in some of the best hands.

I believe the diagnosis and care my cat received was appropriate, however their tactics were upsetting. My husband called Saturday am for an urgent appointment for our cat. What we thought to be ear mites abruptly worsened, and our cat was having issues balancing, and her eyes had swollen almost shut. While I do understand that you pay a premium for urgent weekend care, this was RIDICULOUS. My cat was taken from my husband to the back for an exam, and at no time was he asked if he would like to accompany her. He's not the type to question a physician, and seeing as this was rather urgent, he decided to go with the flow. When they returned, they gave him a single itemized list of tests, procedures and medications they recommended, with the estimated total being between $922 and $1152. They wanted $476 for a test (FeLV/FIV) which can be purchased online or at any pet supply store for $40 or less, and administered at home, although a veterinarian would still run the test themselves, if it became positive at home, which should still be around $50-100 for the test, not including an exam at most reasonably priced veterinarian's offices. I asked another emergency vet what they would charge for an exam and FeLV/FIV test, and was told $300 for the exam and test. When my husband told them it was not affordable for us at this time, their next recommendation was to allow them to euthanize her, or surrender her to the Humane Society, where she would be euthanized. They left, to give him a moment to decide, and he called me, distraught. I suggested he ask them what the bare minimum we could do, to keep her comfortable and get her on the road to healing, until we get paid again on Thursday, and can get her in to our Veterinarian, and continue her treatment with them. They were back within MOMENTS with another, smaller itemized list of things we could do that day, totaling $350. Mere seconds ago it was a $1,000 bill, or DEATH, but they seemed to have the second list ready and waiting. They gave her some fluids, an antibiotic injection, tested the irritated skin in and around her ears, and it turned out to be a yeast infection, which explains most of her symptoms. They cleaned her ears well, and gave us ear drops to get rid of the yeast, and she's feeling so much better already. She was well taken care of, in the end, but they tried to use my husband's empathy and emotions against him, to make a larger profit.

My wife and I took our American Staffy/boxer mix, Bentley, in for his annual check-up (our first since we got him late last year). We let the staff know in advance that he was dog-reactive, and they were great about communicating with us about when to take him into the facility so that he wouldn't freak out with other pets there. Each of the staff members displayed great cordiality and professionalism, and the employees who had to draw blood or do other tasks that our anxious dog was scared about did so with kindness and a sense of understanding. We received top-notch pet care and look forward to taking Bentley back in the future.
