The best grits and shrimp I ever ate. We also split the gumbo for an app. my husband had jambalaya plus we had bread pudding

We got the gumbo with blackened shrimp over rice, very good flavor. And we ordered bread to have with it, very fresh. Our waitress was good. The sweet tea is not a southern sweet tea (they added lemon flavor to it) did not like. This place is pricey but very good.

My husband and I were in Omaha for our birthday weekend and friends suggested we go here for dinner. 45 minute wait for a Saturday night was to be expected and worth the wait! Our table of six shared two orders of boudin balls and one order of gizzards. I can officially say I tried gizzards! I cannot compare to anyone obviously but they were good. Loved them with the pepper jelly glaze that they were served with. The boudin balls were delicious and were great to share with a table. Also loved the remoulade sauce that was with the boudin balls. I had the kickn' chicken pasta with blackened chicken & shrimp. The blackened shrimp and chicken dish was delicious. I wish I could of taken the left overs back to the hotel but no way to heat it up! The dish would of been a 10 if the noodles were served al dente but that's personal taste/preference. My husband had the etouffee with shrimp and crawfish. We sampled eachothers and his was delicious as well. Both were so rich and flavorfull! If you have someone wanting to go halfsies I would recommend ordering both of these dishes and splitting! Two of our friends had ordered the etoufee and the catfish po boy and dipped the sandwich in the etoufee. Although I did not try them together, they raved about that combo. My husband also got a free birthday dessert! We weren't told what it was but I believe it was the 'famous bread budding'. The table shared and everyone enjoyed. A few of our friends who don't typically care for dessert loved it! With the help of your restaurant and our friends I can now say I've tried crawfish, gizzards, and catfish and liked it all! Thank you for the great experience. We hope to be back again some day!

Some of the best Cajun food around. The Gumbo is the best I've had in Omaha and I've been to NOLA twice. The etouffee is huge and delicious. The Shrimp PO Boy was solid.

First time here so we ordered most of their featured entrées and sides. It’s a Southern restaurant, but much more of a Cajun offering. If you are hoping for a Creole/tomato flavor, you might be disappointed. Entrees don’t have tomato/sweet/spice finish. If fact they tend to error on a smoke/burnt after taste. Could be the dried herbs vs fresh. Not distracting, but not my favorite. Order an extra protein on top the jambalaya. Same with the étouffée. Otherwise somewhat skimpy. Chicken Fried Chicken was some the best we’ve ever had. Same with the Gouda Mac n’ Cheese. Order the Strawberry Mojito if in season. Excellent.

Amazing food and a great dining experience. Got the Boudin, Blackened Chicken with added Shrimp, and the Etouffe with added Shrimp. Huge servings. Filling food. Fast and very friendly service. She even gave us our drinks to go without being asked when I mentioned a nearby appointment.

Everyone loved what they had! I had the southern salad with blackened chicken and citrus vinaigrette. Was delicious! My boyfriend had the kickin' chicken pasta and loved it. Per all of the reviews, we tried the bread pudding and the reviews didn't lie! It was amazing! Plenty to share with 2-3 people total. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will be back!

Fabulous menu, it was hard to decide what to eat. Choice of Voodoo shrimp and Jambalaya rocked and was plenty to satisfy our hunger. The french bread melted in your mouth. The Chef was excellent in delivering flavor profiles , dont let him/her go!!! Service was friendly, fast and with great pride the best we've seen in Omaha!. If you looked just right, you could see the owner inspecting all dishes before they went out. We were one of many tables where he personally delivered our meals right away while they were hot. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing! Been awhile in Omaha since I have had the same quality of flavors that Mouth of the South has in their dishes. We enjoyed every single plate that we ordered. If you love southern food or looking for the best place for hangover food…this is your spot.

This restaurant is totally underrated. Coming from a fine dining background, I was extremely impressed with the level of service I had received here at Mouth of the South (Kudos to my server Luke). From start to finish the food, ambiance, and overall experience was wonderful. Water was always filled, plates were cleared promptly, and the food made its way out to the table with mere perfect timing. The Voodoo Shrimp & Grits, Crab Cakes, Smoked Gouda Mac N’ Cheese, and the Crab Dip are all to die for. I will absolutely be back here & I am excited to try other food items on the menu!
