This place is eff’ing terrible. I gave them a 2nd chance; they will not get a 3rd. To the owner, watch the movie “Burnt”, and then sentence yourself to shuck 1 million oysters as penance for what you are serving. As a Cajun, I am embarrassed. A 1-hour wait just for appetizers, but it was only about 2/3 full, so I do not accept the excuse, “the kitchen was slammed”. Here were the “authentic flavors” of Saturday night’s abomination: 1). Mussels – Lukewarm, chewy, and rough (way overcooked). 1/3 of them were completely closed, which means they didn’t check them beforehand. The kitchen staff is a bunch of amateurs that don’t have a clue what they are doing; the kitchen manager should have caught this. You DO NOT send out unopened mussels. When they don’t open during cooking, it means they are dead and you don’t eat them. Someone can get very, very sick from eating mussels that were dead before cooking. 2). Gumbo – Lukewarm. Is there a national salt shortage? There was no measurable amount of salt in the gumbo; it was flavorless. The meat and veggies were a mushy mess, which means it was way overcooked. Or, it was old and just heated up in a microwave. 3). Boudin Balls – They were good in terms of flavor, but given the wait-time, it was a slap in the face that the kitchen manager had the balls to send out food that was lukewarm. The “remoulade” was like they took Heinz Kranch sauce and added hot sauce to it. It was offensive to my taste palette. 4). Jambalaya – Lukewarm. I can get past food that isn’t hot if it packs a flavorful punch. First, it didn’t look or smell like any jambalaya I have ever seen. Secondly, I wouldn’t feed this to my dogs. The chicken was beyond dry, and the andouille was tough and rubbery. The flavor was beyond vomit-inducing. It’s clear this was old jambalaya, heated up in a microwave, but I am not even sure how they made it taste so bad. It’s like they went to the dog food factory, swept up scraps from the floor, let it ferment 30-days like they were making balut, and then mixed it with some of the slime from the bottom of the dumpster out back. To the kitchen manager, “$&%@ you” for thinking it was even remotely ok to serve something that disgusting. 5). Roast Beef Po Boy – Lukewarm would have been tolerable, but it was ice cold. Slow roasted? No, it was deli-cut roast beef that was chewy and topped with dry-mix brown gravy. Let me tell you, when you slow roast the beef, you take the stuff that falls off and you make the “debris” gravy. This just shows how out of depth these amateurs are. 6). Crawfish Étouffée – This was at least hot, and the flavor was ok, but the grits were both undercooked and mushy. I’m not sure how they accomplished this, but I surmise they overcooked the grits and then added in raw grits hoping they would cook and firm up. If you claim to serve Southern cuisine but can’t get grits right, just do us all a favor and close down. 7). “Famous” Bread Pudding – Famous for what? Being underwhelming? Being poorly executed? Being the rancid cherry on top of an already slap-in-the-face meal? The bread pudding came straight from the microwave to our table. The outside was hot & tough, and the inside was ice cold – that screams microwave. Some of the bread bits hadn’t been mixed correctly, so they were plain, dry, white bread. Use of a microwave isn’t actually a cooking technique – you know that, right? Way to end the meal on the lowest, most disappointing note possible. I don’t mind waiting for good food. If a kitchen is slammed, slow it down, and get it right. When you send garbage food out that customers have had to wait a disproportionate amount of time for, it makes them mad. The kitchen has no idea what it is doing in terms of knowing what the food is supposed to look or taste like. Train your staff, or close down. But serving lukewarm garbage from a microwave is beyond offensive. Nebraska, on behalf of Louisiana, I sincerely apologize for the garbage food you’re being served at this place.

Great place. Stopped for lunch and was intrigued by the southern cuisine offerings. Great cajun Étouffée and some sweet tea. It was very good. Love the Old Market area and the various places to shop, eat, drink, and have fun. Will be back.

First time visit, definitely will not be the last! The atmosphere is amazing, the service was great and the food is beyond! Best bread pudding I think I've ever had! Great addition to the old market.

The wings are amazing they were gone super quick, didn’t care for the crab cakes. The sauce on top was fairly spicy even for our palettes. I ordered the bbq brisket sandwich and Gouda mac. The Mac is very good but the brisket is just ok. I’ve hard far better brisket with way more flavor. It was fairly bland and very greasy, I also wasn’t a fan of the “toasted” bread that was darn near soggy. My husband ordered the smoke stack burger. He said it was just ok, coming from the south he said it didn’t scream southern food to him. And the onion rings were just ok at best. It’s like they tried to beer batter them and missed the mark. All in all of you haven’t lived in the south it might be a good close second for the mid-west. But if you’ve lived In the south then it was a let down for sure.

Upside: This place is hands up great! The food is so delicious, kudos to the chef! Every area of the restaurant is set up beautifully! It is clean and well kept! So why am I rating them one star? Downside: I had to ask my partner to finish my food, I lost my appetite. He has high tolerance to body odor, I DON'T. Our server, who's name starts with "Z" needs to consider a shower and deodorant!!! The smell is sickening! I have to turn away every time our server approaches our table!

This is a really nice establishment to eat at the hospitality was great from the start! very clean, nice seating ,stylish decor throughout the entire restaurant .good size bar and plenty of space on your table to eat at ..comfortable place with great atmosphere..the service from are waitress wasn't the best they were not even busy long waits for her to come around even had to get another waitress to refill are drinks ...the food tasted good I recommend giving this place a try ..I will be giving this a second try coming from someone that lived in Louisiana the last 10 years the food could use more flavor but there is always room for improvement!!! Would have gave 5 stars but the service wasn't great ...

Wow, didn’t show up on google because they’re new, we were just walking the beautiful downtown and stumbled upon this place. Excellent food, atmosphere and service. Kudos to Morgan who was our waitress, she was amazing. We were beyond impressed and I would visit again next time we make the travel.

Been there a couple of times now and not been disappointed! Brunch today was :: chef's kiss ::. Had the all meat omelette. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly with just enough crunch on the outside with warm center. The sauce on the omelette was AMAZING. It went extremely well with the sausage and eggs. The meat in the omelette was expertly prepared with such good seasoning and flavors. Wow!

This place had me at shaded patio seating. Shrimp Po Boy with just the right amount of kick & onion rings for a side for me. Brisket sandwich & fries for the husband. Chocolate chip pancakes for the kids (not necessarily Southern but hey as long as the kids eat). Friendly & efficient service. This place is great!

Phenomenal food and outstanding service! The boudin balls were fabulous as an appetizer. The jambalaya, chicken fried Chicken, and meatloaf were all seasoned and cooked perfectly. The smokepit sandwich and homemade onion rings were on point and our waitress was super sweet. The bread pudding for dessert was the cherry on top. Highly recommend 👌
