Long story short, this place is terrible and the complex manager will accuse you of anything and continue to use your animals as an excuse to pay for planned replacements. The place is nice on the outside, but everything inside is terrible. For my unit, in one of the older buildings, I experienced the carpet coming up at the tacking and the installation of the windows being poor. When it rained there was water coming in the window tracks and there was a constant draft. Our electricity bill was always high because it was impossible to keep a comfortable temperature in our apartment. There is a great lack of communication from the manager and any communication I had with her was rather unpleasant. She is dismissive, rude, and unavailable. Most times I went to the office there was no one present. If I needed anything done, I’d send in our male roommate because she was nice to them and actually listened. In the year that I was there, she went through about 5 female assistant managers who were never there very long. She also decided to take the liberty of removing a roommate from my lease without my knowledge or consent. I was double charged rent for the first few months I lived there. The charge on our account specifically stated “market rent” and not “deposit”. Not wanting to avoid a large charge, I paid it the first month but then went to the manager the second month. Since I didn’t need to pay the first months double charge, I asked for that money to be applied to my account. The manager was rather rude about the charge and it took months for anything to be resolved. We went in circles and once I was able to look at the ledger and explicitly point out the issue, then it was finally taken care of. It is pet friendly, but many residents don’t pick up after their animals on occasion. I don’t mind this, things happen and you need a pass. However, there are busybodies that apparently take pictures and report it to the manger. Nothing will be done with this information until there are enough complaints that everyone with a pet has to be included in this issue. Any time I need to talk to the manager over the phone with any issue it was always brought up that I never picked up my dog poop (which is a lie, I always do because I don’t want to step in it or other people to step in it). She was never able to provide the proof that I “didn’t pick up” after my dog. After moving out, I was never informed of a charged I had on my account account. There are several ways to get hold of me and my permanent address was on the lease. This doesn’t matter. I received no letter (or even proof that a letter was ever sent) about charges and it was sent to a debt collector. I called the Sterling to talk to the manager about this and ask for the charges and pictures, but was unable to obtain anything. They “had nothing because it was all sent to the debt collection agency”. The debt collection agency could also not provide me proof of anything. Once I submitted a BBB complaint, however, all of the information I asked for finally arrived. However, during this BBB exchange, the story as to why I was charged was changed several times ultimately landing on an explanation that can’t be proved.

Beautiful apartments, great staff, amazing location!

Basically lived here all summer since most of my friends did. The balconies are spacious enough for a few chairs and a propane grill. The pool, movie theater, gym, and club house are worth it. Each apt is newly constructed and the island tables with high stools work great for young professionals or couples.

The apartments were nice (albeit expensive) during our two year stay, but the complex is plagued with issues beyond the living spaces. The office's hours are all over the place, which makes contacting them extremely difficult. The staff has snapped at me over the phone regarding a question on our statement, which was a very unpleasant experience. Additionally, the front door to our building was consistently unlocked due to the door getting stuck, making the building not nearly as secure as what we wanted. Finally, we referred a friend to rent from the Sterling but we never received the referral bonus.

So we toured a 2 bedroom Oxford apartment liked it and asked for that apartment we were told that is what we were getting when we signed the lease. When we got the keys and saw the apartment it was a Wakefield style. When we asked if we could wait for a Oxford they said because we signed the lease the best they could do is let us switch in 6 months. Moral of the story is make them show you your exact apartment before you sign the lease because if it is wrong because their system is wrong they will not do anything for you other then let you move twice. Other then that the office lady is nice and the apartments are also nice.

Very nice apartments. I would say the nicest in the area. I moved from Washington DC and I think rent is reasonable if you consider that they have nice amenities, good location, are pet friendly, and offer flexible leases. The stairs to my building need to be cleaned more often, but even though there is visible dog hair and dirt on the carpet, there are no odors in the building. No loud noises either. I would give them five stars if they had more gym space (i.e. add another gym since they added more buildings) and would clean the stairs regularly. I think they are quick when you call maintenance and staff is friendly. Also, their studios are the equivalent of what I consider a one bedroom junior size apartment in a big city. I am happy to call this place home.

When my family and I first looked at moving in we were shown the showroom apartment, which, as it turns out, seemingly has a bigger living space than the 3 bedroom apartments. We lived there for a year, which was the extent of the lease. During this year there were several aspects that told us that this place was an awful place to live. First off, the day we moved in we were told to check for damages, we reported that the sliding patio door would not lock and the screen was ripped and were told it would be fixed. I had to fix this myself with parts from the local hardware store. This never happened. Also, the front door, and walls in the apartment are paper thin, allowing residents to hear each other through the closed door and through neighboring walls and floors. There is a "quiet time" that is not enforced, as our downstairs neighbors and people down the hall were seemingly always having get togethers that lasted until the morning hours. When we moved out at the end of our lease we cleaned the apartment, and filled nail and screw holes and had the carpets shampooed. When we received our deposit back there was a charge for carpet cleaning and cleaning, which were both done professionally by us. I do not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. It's too expensive, too noisy and not worth the hassle.

If you prefer safe, clean amenities and a management group who cares about their tenants, do NOT rent from The Sterling.

I moved in February 2022; everything has been great. Ty, the property manager, as well as the maintenance staff have been quick to help with any issues. Definitely would recommend these apartments!!

Horrible money hungry company. Building is gross and never gets cleaned and the apartment I moved into was disgusting. They will also try and screw you over each month with different problems they cause.
