No reason it exists, does not open it's doors until just before the train arrives. This really sucks in the winter time. Not sure what the deal is, it used to be open 2 hours prior. The station staff changed and I think they are just too lazy to open it for customers 😓 …

No attendant at station to answer questions or purchase tickets. No cameras in the parking for protecting your vehicle in an area with drunks running all around as well as the minimum security prison less than 100 yards away. The only time available is 1:47 am, train is delayed an hour so now whoever is taking the train will be there when the herd of drunks fall out of the bars. We should model ourselves after the efficiency of the Japanese. Amtrak is like the only Ford I bought, never again no matter what the cost saving are. Didn't even give me a veterans discount you have to call a seperate number. Ridiculous. Full moon tonight now I worry about their TPM (total preventive maintenance) program. Wish me luck.

Well I got a text on my way to the train. While at the station I received 2 more text about delays. We finally left the station 2 hrs. late. On my way home we were to leave at 7:10. We arrived at the train station at 6:00 p.m. I never received any text about the delay until 11:30 p.m. while at the station we were delayed until 2:30 a.m. We finally made it home at 8:45 a.m. that morning. What an exhausting trip. That was my first train trip and possibly my last.

This review is of the overall trip. I used to bring my old roommate to this station a lot to go home and visit. She always had okay trips, nothing extraordinarily good or bad but the train was always late. Our train was only delayed 19 minutes which, in my experience with her, was early. This morning, my boyfriend and I boarded the train ourselves to go to her wedding. We boarded here and get off at Burlington, IA. Overall, it has been an okay experience. It started out wonderful. We boarded and the gentleman taking our tickets was really nice and extremely helpfully. I give him a 10/10. The seats were relatively okay and the ride was nice and the scenery has been beautiful this morning. We slept most of the early morning. At 7, breakfast announcements were made. We made our way to the front for a sit down meal but we had to find the bathroom first which was a little hard to look for but we found it. The bathrooms are a big girls nightmare but i have nothing to really complain about because they did what they could with the space they had. We went back upstairs for a sit down meal and this is where the things went bad. My boyfriend and I look very young and we dressed comfortably for the trip (hoodie and sweats and hoodie and old jeans). We went to the car to eat and hostess of the car was very aggressive in her greating. She kept stating that this was a "sit down meal only" like we were in the wrong place. We finally got fed up and left and will eat once we arrive at our destination. It was probably one of the most frustrating experiences I've had recently. We just wanted to relax and eat some pancakes. Instead, she judged us, was very rude, and she lost our money. No way will we ever even attempt to eat on an amtrak train after this which is sad because I have fond memories of passenger car diners growing up. We will probably take the train again because it is more affordable and convenient but we will remember to bring our own snacks next time. It was a massive mood killer that I would not like to deal with again. Overall, the trip was "okay."
