Car was great but I was charged for smoking in it when I didn't

So many times I have experience customers coming in to the airport that have rented a vehicle through budget. Budget is not located at the airport and hasn't been for several years.. I have many upset customers who don't know how to get to their vehicle. whenever they try calling budget they're always closed or not willing to help so they end up renting through another company at the airport. I have also heard from numerous people that the customer service is incredibly poor.

My experience when renting from Budget car rental near the Grand Island Nebr. airport was much less than desirable in every way. Airport rentals are vey expensive & Budget being located Off-airport very Inconvenient for most but having a ride this wasn't a factor for me. The person who I think is the manager was not pleasant & the price he attempted charging was considerably higher then this assured by Costco who he criticized for being incompetent. My biggest complain & disappointment was the age & condition of the rental car given me. I did express my displeasure to which his only comment was "It has been around for awhile" offering no other option unless I was willing to pay considerably more for a different car. This vehicle so undesirable I drove it away going about 2 miles before returning & forced to pay the additional & considerable amount for another car. There seemed quite a few vehicles on the lot he had available & his reason for giving me this years old high mileage car wasn't stated but may have been due to renting through Costo. Upon returning the car he companied about it being so dusty although the weather was windy with dust flying the entire week. ....Because of the rental car situation I will never fly directly into he Grand Island Airport in the future allowing myself to be dealt with so unfairly by a car rental agent who I believe to be the manager. Renters need getting a commitment for a decent car before signing any papers but this car rental place is located a great distance from anything resembling another car rental agency's & same day rentals are expensive & so inconvenient getting there.. It all boils down to "he has you"....Very unfair treatment & my last time dealing with him or this agency.

Budget is by far the best company ever to rent a vehicle from, the price is fantastic and Jim in Grand Island will always go the extra mile to ensure you are satisfied. The service and is always spot on and the vehicles are the best of any company by far. Thank you Budget and thank you Jim for the down home friendly service and awesome vehicles. I will never rent from anyone else.

The Manager is absolutely the worst Customer service representative I've ever encountered in my entire life. How is he allowed to talk to people the way that he does? He also refused me the owners number. Will never send anyone I care about to be mistreated by this man simply to rent a car. Horrible experience. All the reviews about him being a jerk are accurate. 0 stars.

Very friendly, great rates, pickup was pristine, manager was very conscious about disinfecting everything, including the keys as he set them on the counter for me. Took an extra call to get the receipt emailed to me but that's no big deal. I'll use this location for any future vehicle rentals.

Called to make a reservation on a Saturday, told us that they would have someone there to wait for us at 1 PM. Got there 12:10PM and were told the place closed at 12PM . No offer to help, no service - left us stranded in Grand Island. Worst customer service experience ever. Update: Sent the following e-mail to the owner, as requested, with the details of the events. Hi, a brief account to explain the one star review -- and it seems we are not the only ones with the same experience. On Friday the 24th of July we had a flat tire in Lexington, NE while traveling to Denver, CO to visit family. They couldn't replace the tire - since it wasn't available - until the next Monday. So the plan was to leave the car at Discount Tire in Grand Island, NE on Saturday morning - rent a car and drive to Denver, picking up our car on the way back on Monday morning. On our way from Lexington to Grand Island we called Budget - someone from the Omaha office answered, they had a car available in Grand Island - we said we could be there at 1PM, they said there was not a problem and that they would make sure someone was there to give us the car. We were faster than expected on the way there and reached the Budget rental in Grand Island at 12:10PM - the owner of the place was in the back - washing a car. We told him about our booking and he said that he knew nothing about it and that they closed at 12PM. We pointed out that we had a booking and he said that he didn't care - they closed at 12PM. We called back the Omaha office, we explained the situation and they passed the call to the Grand Island office where the guy explained that he was the same person we talked to and that they were closed. When we tried to call back the Omaha office none answered our calls. Of course, by that time, all the other car rentals in Grand Island closed. Instead of spending the weekend with our family in Denver we spent it in Grain Island, NE. Many things could have been done differently: 1 - Tell us that you couldn't give us a car because the place would be closed at 12PM, then we could have called some other car rental service before they closed and rented another car; 2 - Showing some signs of decent customer service the person that was in the Grand Island office could have given us the keys to the car that was right in front of us; 3 - The person in the office in Omaha could have talked to the office in Grand Island and asked the very rude person to help us out; 4 - The person in the office in Omaha could have admitted to the rudeness and unwillingness to help a customer in need of the owner of the Budget car rental in Grand Island, apologized and worked with us to try and find a resolution. None of these things happened. We were left stranded in Grand Island, with no apologies and no help. It's easy to see why the one star review, right? I know that nothing is going to come out of this - the little I could do has been to blacklist Budget from the providers of the company I work for, probably it won't impact you much, but I can at least make sure none of my colleagues is ever stranded again due to poor customer service.

This place must be the cheapest car rental place around. At least it was in 2019. I was looking to rent a car one way from Nebraska to Florida and every rental place wanted almost double the rate if you don't return the car at the same location where you picked it up from. But this Budget car rental gave me the same rate even I dropped it off in Florida. They also picked me up in Central City, NE and gave me a free ride to Grand Island where Budget car rental was located, which is about 30 miles.

Rented a car to drive around and my friend was going to take my truck back to Colorado Springs. We decided it was fiscally more responsible to have him take the rental back and drop it at the airport there as we had called the budget headquarters in Omaha and were told no problem, we could drop it any where. Upon arrival there said it’s be another 150 to drop the car off. Wasn’t happy about that but okay. So how the heck did 150 become 350? I’ll be disputing this with my credit card company. That is the most dishonest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Guess they need the money awful bad. Sad that a company that large is basically a lying group of thieves.

Horrible customer service hands down! Paid upfront online. Received confirmation email. Nothing stated about having card on file in person when picking up car. Quick to take money. Slow to explain policies and refunds…. Went to ENTERPRISE and got our car right away with better rates without reservations.
