Mel's Diner

Stopped at sapp bros for the night and they are next door, small town feel amazing food and the best navy bean soup I’ve ever had! I’m from Florida and places like this are rare across the country ...delicious food cooked with love and a great friendly staff. I’ll be back for breakfast and if ever by here again will stop to eat. Keep up the great work Mel’s staff!

Fantastic little diner on the outskirts of a small town, friendly and funny staff, the food was excellent. I can see why this place always stays busy throughout The day.

Miss Mac's cafe. Started going to Mel's. The food is ok and more like home cooking. Nice choice of meals, just not as good as Mac's was. Will we eat there again. YEP!

Great food for an awesome price. Portions were great, my mom and I split a meal just fine. Got a shake and it had real strawberries blended and super thick. Overall would come again

Wow. This place is phenomenal. The food is hands down the best cafe/diner food I have had in a long time. With prices being sky high right now and quality down everywhere you seriously wouldn't know it here. The biscuits and gravy were out of this world! My husband and I fought over them, lol. Everything was so good I ended up ordering lunch to go and that was phenomenal too! Just amazed at this place.

This was a decent pick for breakfast; the turkey, tomato, bacon, and cheese omelette was okay. It was a little too heavy on the tomato (and had the taste diluted significantly as a result) and needed more flavour (especially the hollandaise sauce; it had a blank, empty taste to it), and the biscuits and gravy were fantastic. The place was clean and everyone was friendly. It’d be nice to be able to order just biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage. The Mel’s potatoes weren’t very good at all; some were undercooked, some overcooked, and they all had no flavour. The portions were good for the price, I just wish everything had been made with more seasoning; the potatoes especially could have really benefited from being equally cooked, with onions and garlic salt at the least; they probably would have been fantastic with onions, garlic, seasoned salt, and fried in bacon grease. As it is, a lot of the food is lacking seasoning in the same way Aunt Gladys starts cooking after her doctor tells her that she has to urgently reduce the fats in her diet and cut out sodium completely; it’s not bad, but it’s only okay and a lot of flavour is lacking. I’ll go back if I’m in the mood for a reasonably okay breakfast served quickly with no frills, or a decent biscuits and gravy (their biscuits are very good), but I’ll probably order something different and steer away from the Mel’s potatoes entirely. I’d definitely choose this restaurant over the nearby Penny’s Diner a million times over. It’s a safe place to bring guests, because other than the flavourless potatoes, nothing is overtly *bad*, it’s just nothing to write home about.

We stopped in for breakfast on our way through town. Our waitress great. We enjoyed our meal.

I stop when I really shouldn't. I can't count how many times I've been here. Back again for 3rd meal in 2 days. Here for breakfast as I was yesterday and supper last night. Place is packed. Waiting list was about 15 minutes. This place is well worth the wait.
