Tokyo Japanese Cuisine

Came in to try out a new food type in my hometown; where I live, anything that isn't pizza, Chinese buffet or Mexican is a novelty and I wanted to give it a fair go. Overall, it's not bad; the decor is a little heavy handed but artsy, and the menu is extensive. I'm very happy it's not just a sushi/noodle or hibachi-only place, in fact it has all of it. There's noodle soups, hibachi options, sushi, bento boxes, rice bowls, cutlets--its very similar in a sense to Sakurabana in Omaha. The downsides though were slow service and the miso soup came to us on the mild side of cool, rather than freshly hot or even heated. It makes up for it with flavor though. The few things we sampled were well cooked and very tasty and I'm willing to give it another go and try for the entrees once their first week open has passed. So far, the slow time to receive food was the only thing that kept it from 4*, so if our next visit has faster service with food arriving hot or warm, I'll be happy to give it a solid four stars. The waitress herself was lovely. 05/29: Can't make a new review so here's the update, went back and things went much smoother. Food came fast and piping hot, all of it was very good, good taste and fresh feeling. It gets its 4th star from me now. Staff seem a little nervous and stiff but I'm sure they'll ease into it, most of them are young. Be careful ordering the vegetable soup, it's MASSIVE, I thought it would be the same size as the miso so I ended up not finishing it.

Ive gotten sushi multiple times and always loved everything I’ve gotten. This is sushi for two and tiger roll. Definitely getting your moneys worth. Quality is so good!

Delicious food, lovely presentation, efficient and kind service, and an extensive menu. I’m looking forward to my next visit! Thank you to Chen and the staff for a welcoming experience! This is such a great addition to Columbus.
