Needed a place to stay in Albion for the night. Room was very dated, but clean. Had to park the truck/trailer across the road in Subway parking lot due to no truck parking. I've stayed at worse.

The owner is very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. This was a nice quite and comfortable stay. I would stay here again.

Motel room was clean and decent. Owner cooke my friends and I a steak when the other restaurants were closed! How awesome is that?

We didn’t even get settled into the room before we found multiple bed bugs. We have photos and took it to the office. The only positive is that we got a full refund. Watch those beds people!

Got walked in on by the housekeeper. I went back to use the bathroom and didn't lock my door figured I would be quick. He walked all the way to my bathroom which the door was open... after I told him to get out. Owner is weird and creepy DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! Unless you like people walking in on your business.

I'm a hard-core storm chaser for over 30 yrs, which puts me thru Nebraska quite a bit during the spring / summer tornado season. I'm in a diff. state and city almost every night...so I've had a lot of experience with what to expect in a small town. Interestingly, although I'm from Az. now, I had deep family roots in Albion for over 100 yrs. They're all dead or moved away now, so it's a mixed bag of emotions to roll into Albion and have the memories flood back to me. I make it a point to stay at The Dunes when in Albion. There is another motel choice in that little town of 1,900...but I just love the longtime owners "Doc" and his wonderful Japanese wife Yuko. They run their motel very efficiently...they know what they're doing. Someone else wrote "the rooms were clean but "dated". You can expect a thoroughly clean room each time you stay at The Dunes. As far as "dated", I personally love the more down-home look of the rooms, compared to the "sanitary" look of yet another corporate big-motel-chain. One must understand that Albion is called The Gateway to the Nebraska Sandhills, and this means you are deep into Cattle / Hog / Corn and Alfalfa growing country. People here make their living with their muscles and hard hard physical work....always fighting the elements. You're in agriculture country, and where soil is being worked constantly, it'll be in the air all the time. The fact that Doc and Yuko keep their motel rooms so clean is remarkable, because it's impossible to keep anything clean for very long in this part of the United States. By the way....you'll love the room rates....so much better than yet another night of over $100 dollars at one of the corporate chain-motels. If you have any kind of issue that needs handled....Doc is a hands-on owner...and is not afraid of hard work. He will get busy on whatever issue to need addressed, and get it handled. Lastly, if you enjoy eating a great steak cooked outside over charcoal while you sip a cold beer....Doc usually has his grille going nightly under the ramada next to the office. Many a stranger has walked away a new friend once they've stayed at Doc's for the night and had him toss a steak on the grille for you. I guess you can tell why I much prefer to stay at the Dunes Motel with friends after a harrowing and very tiring day or week of working with severe / tornadic storms. A steak, a cold beer or a little bit of wine coupled with a good solid night of sleep makes the following day just a whole lot brighter. Thanks for the opportunity to offer this review. I mean every word of what I wrote here. joel ewing

Place is fine. Run by Doc Halladay who will drink a beer with you at night. Friendly couple, is a little dated but what else would you expect. No bugs, was bit up at cardinal down the road. Room was better than I expected new carpet. I had a good couple days here.

Yes rooms are dated, but everything else was pretty great. Old retired navy guy runs the show. Friendly enough and takes care of business. I called ahead from about an hour away when I knew I would be staying in Albion Nebraska. He turned on the AC in my room and was hanging around with a few cinnamon rolls his wife made when I got there. Bed is comfy and room is pretty standard. I would definitely stay here again considering the only other hotel in town wanted $99 for the night. Good job Halladay, He is very old school and if you can respect that, then you'll get along fine.

There were 4 different rooms involved, they had a stench that smelled worse than a boys high school locker room. In my room there was no coffee maker, ice, wifi, Kleenex or breakfast all though you could drive a mile to the Cardinal hotel (sister hotel) and pay $5.00 for a continental breakfast. There was a spider web with a bug in it that remained on the side of the toilet for two of the three days we stayed there, the bath towels aren't much bigger than a hand towel and the remote was taped up with a silver gum wrapper which you had to push in to make it work. There were no other rooms available in the two hotels so we were stuck. On a positive note the hot water was extremely fast in arriving.

I visited this location and purchased a waterpump for my Chevy truck as it is now a new Carquest parts store.
